Why Affirmations Feel Like a Lie (And Why That's the Point)

Updated: Jul 8

Most people roll their eyes at affirmations. I get it.

Standing in front of a mirror telling yourself you’re brilliant when you feel anything but, it feels ridiculous. Fake even.

But here’s the thing.

That discomfort you feel? It’s the gap between who you’ve been taught to be and the beginning of a new way of thinking about yourself.

When an affirmation feels like a lie, it’s because part of you doesn’t believe it yet. You’re living inside a story that was written a long time ago, probably by someone else.

And stories can change.

The more emotion you bring to it, the more it works. You can’t just rattle these off on autopilot. You have to actually feel it, want it, let it stir something in you.

That’s where the shift happens.

I’ve put together five sets of affirmations for women who are ready to come back to themselves.

They’re waiting for you on the Resources page.
